Base Camp

In March of every year, 16 teams set out on an epic journey to reach the pinnacle of their sport. Step after step, week after week, they climb towards the summit, driven by a singular goal. As they trek along this well-trodden path, they imagine what it might be like to stand on the planet’s greatest podium and look out at the world. They dream of that view. Some think of nothing else until their journey is complete. At times along the way, when they catch a glimpse of what surrounds them and what they have already achieved, they smile. They appreciate what an opportunity they have been given to etch their names into history.

More Bounce Than A Trampoline

It’s hard to justify buying a trampoline as an adult. There are so many other things that seem more worthy or more necessary, like food and shelter, but is there a better feeling than the one you get when you leap into the air, letting gravity take its course before briefly touching the surface and springing back higher than before? Okay, you can probably think of a few things to top that, but in the moment a perfectly executed leap sure feels up there with the best of them. Try it for yourself. Jump into the air. Right now. Taking Care of Business

The Warriors are an above average NRL team. Do those words get your pulse racing as quickly as mine? ‘Not really’, you say? They should. Try reading them again:

The Warriors are an above average NRL team.

Surely now the heart is beating a little faster? No? Still not doing it for you? Those words don’t sound overly flattering? I know, I know, sometimes above average doesn’t stand out. It doesn’t win you awards or get your face on a billboard. In most situations it doesn’t win you a premiership. And I know, I know, that’s what we all want. It’s why we arrive early to Mt Smart to watch the U20s and the ISP side. It’s why we buy our heritage jersey and think of clever things to yell at the touch judge. There are many other reasons why we love this game and why we joined Warrior Nation, but the lure of that premiership may well be the strongest thing keeping us here.
