Peace and Quiet

In many ways, to be a true supporter of the Warriors you have to always believe that the glass is half full. Every season is a rollercoaster of ups and downs, and in the past few years there’s been a fair few carriages drive completely off the tracks. After so many rough rides, it’s no surprise that some fans decide to get off for good (until the next new attraction comes along at least!).

But year after year of disappointment also makes you naturally sceptical. It makes it hard to ward off the negative thoughts, those voices inside your head that whisper Today’s the day that it all falls apart, before every kick off, no matter what the circumstances. Golden Raindrops

Another week, another golden point loss.

With the Cronulla defeat still fresh in the memory,  this weekend hurts just that little bit more. Not just because the Warriors came so agonisingly close to the two points for the second time in three games, not just because it was against a Manly squad sitting below them on the ladder, but because it is a match the men from Mt Smart will look back at and wonder how they didn’t win, wonder why haven’t finally broken the Perth hoodoo.

After a rocky start, when for a brief moment it felt like the torrential rain was about to drown everything that has been good about the past few months, the Kiwi side worked their way back into the match and hammered away at the Manly door waiting for it to break down. It nearly did. On multiple occasions. But somehow the Warriors left WA with nothing to show for their efforts. Continue reading Golden Raindrops

Twists and Turns

We’ve said all season that the NRL is a rollercoaster ride, especially as a Warriors fan, and Saturday evening looks no different. The men from Mt Smart, flying high after six wins from eight games, experienced a sudden loss of altitude last week at the hands of the Roosters. This week we should learn a great deal about whether the fall was merely a bout of turbulence during their flight to the finals or the Giant Drop that sends the season plummeting towards mediocrity.
